Our Easter

We had such a fun weekend full of family, faith, food and way too much sugar! Saturday night we dyed Easter eggs and the boys loved it! Kona wanted to put the eggs in as many colors as he could and Kai just wanted to stir them all around. I look forward to dying Easter eggs each year and I'm always disappointed at how fast it goes. It feels like it's done in a blink of an eye, which makes me excited to do it again next year!
After church on Sunday, we had a small brunch at our house. We had quiche, fruit, English muffins mimosas and lemon bars. Usually we do the egg hunt after breakfast, but Kona was so excited and couldn't wait much longer. While the quiche was cooking we all ran outside and the boys went nuts. Kai wanted to open every egg to inspect what was inside and Kona's mission was to find as many as possible.

After breakfast the boys got there baskets and the play kitchen I have been working on. I had so much fun putting together their Easter presents and can't wait to share the kitchen soon! We spent the afternoon enjoying the sun, playing outside and making funny faces.

That evening we went to J.D's parents house and had a great time. We rode the 4-wheeler, saw the horse and chickens, had another egg hunt and ate the best carrot cake cheesecake. I'm pretty sure my sister-in-law will be making it every Easter from now on!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and were able to spend time with family and friends.
XOXO

What I Wore

Happy Wednesday! I hope everybody is having a wonderful week so far!
I'm pretty excited to share a few outfits from this week. Sharing what I wear every week has made a world of difference for me. Before starting to document what I wear, a lot of days I was in comfy clothes. I'm really making an effort now to get ready every day, even if were staying home. I've notice that I feel better and have a better attitude when I take the time each morning for myself. Fashion was a huge part of my life before having kids and it feels so good to get back into it. Thank you to all of you who read these posts and the sweet comments you leave. It really means the world to me!

Kids Easter Activities

<>
It's Easter week and we are so excited! We've been baking treats, doing a few crafts and visiting the Easter bunny. I'm slowly working on Easter baskets and making a play kitchen out of an old cupboard. I can't wait for it to be done and will be sure to share it next week! If you are looking for some easy and fun Easter activities to do with your kids this week, I got you covered!

One} Bunny and chick handprint. I love doing a festive hand or footprint with the boys. Kona loves doing them and I love pulling them out year after year to display. This year I did a bunny and chick handprint with some grass, sun and birds. Kai did the chicks and Kona did the rest, except for the faces :)

Two} Make Easter treats. This year we made carrot cake cupcakes. Kona and I made these while Kai was napping and we had the best time. He loves helping in the kitchen and had a blast stirring, frosting and taste testing!

Three} Easter crafts. There are so many fun things on Pinterest for Easter. A few of my favorites are this Q-tip egg decorating, easy egg garland, and Easter egg potato stamp.

Four} Fun Easter food. These bunny pancakespeep dirt cups and peep fruit kabobs are adorable! I made the dirt cups two years ago and they were a huge hit.

Five}  Playing with plastic eggs. Kona has been hiding ours all week and sending Kai and I to find them. It keeps the boys entertained long enough for me to sneak a girl scout cookie!

Six} Visit the Easter bunny. Our mall has an Easter bunny that we take the boys to every year and I'm so excited to go this year!

Seven} Local events and activities. We went to a Easter celebration at our local zoo this weekend and had a great time. There's a bunch of Easter related activities going on this week that are sure to keep us busy!

I hope you have a fun festive filled week! XOXO

I can't believe Easter is just right around the corner! I hope you have a wonderful spring weekend!

What It Means To Be A Stay At Home Mom

I became a stay at home mom about two years ago. When I decided to leave my job, Kona was almost 2 and I was pregnant with Kai. Staying home isn't something I always knew I wanted to do, but once we had Kona, it was pretty clear. At that time I wasn't able to stay home full time, but I did cut back to 20 hours a week. When I finally put in my notice at work I felt so much relief, but also a lot of anxiety. I kept asking myself "What does it mean to be a stay at home mom?!?" Does it mean I fill our day full of crafts, play dates, preschool activities and outings? Does every meal have to be homemade? Can I take a few moments for myself during the day or do I devote every minute to my kids?  I had many worries and self doubts, I so badly wanted to do everything just right. I now know what I wanted, was to live up to unrealistic expectations. I had this idea in my head of how our days should go, what my house should look like, and what we should eat. Please believe me when I tell you, the idea I had in my head isn't anything like real life. I still feed my kids "kid food", some days I don't get dressed, there are toys scattered all over and I've never joined a play group. Sure, there are days we do fun crafts, go on outings and bake yummy treats, but it's not all day every day and that's okay. Motherhood is hard enough without us trying to live up to a fantasy world. Once I said goodbye to my unrealistic expectations I was much happier and was able to truly enjoy the day. If you feel like you're not doing enough know that you are. You are giving your kid's everything they need and more. Our children love us no matter what and that's what matters.

XOXO

What I Wore

<>
Happy Wednesday! These two outfits scream spring to me. They are light weight, bright colors and don't include a million layers! Spring fashion makes me feel good and all the fun colors put me in the best mood.

This first outfit is a true testament to never knowing when inspiration will hit. I'm a huge Ellen fan, seriously I love her show! One day I was watching and somebody in the audience was wearing an outfit almost identical to this one. I had all these pieces already in my closet, but had never put them together until then. I'm so glad I did because it's been a staple in my closet. Inspiration is all around us when we keep our eyes and minds open!

Kona's Camping Party

Kona's second birthday party was so much fun and I had a blast planning it! When I saw this camping theme I knew that's what I wanted to do. We had a BBQ, tent, "fire", water for the kids to play in and DIY s'more party favors.

The invitations we sent out are from Etsy and I loved them! They turned out so cute and helped set the theme for the party. It's the little things that make me so happy!
I found this banner in the dollar section at Target and used some stencils to paint the Camp K. I hung it above the food table and loved how it turned out.
I am not much for a baker, I can make banana bread and anything from a box, so I can not believe this cake turned out! Don't get me wrong the cake itself is from a box, but I made the "fire"! I took some red hot and butterscotch hard candies, arranged them on a cookie sheet lined with tin foil and baked them until they were melted. Once they were melted I broke them apart to look like flames and the "sticks" are pretzel's.
We had cupcakes, you can find the toppers here, and instead of ice cream we had root beer floats! It was such a fun treat and everyone loved it!
DIY s'more party favors! The tags are from this Etsy shop.
I set up a little themed treat table full of dirt cups, gummy worms as fish bate, pretzel sticks as fishing rods, and teddy grams with a "don't feed the bears" sign.
Every time I turned around the birthday boy was sneaking another gummy worm!
J.D. was in charge of making the tent and it turned out so cute! The kids loved running through it and eating lunch inside. It was so much fun we decided to leave it up for a week or two. We watched movies in it, read book, and had picnics.
I made the "fire" by cutting a circle out of a cardboard box and wrapping it with aluminum foil. Then I hot glued some rocks, sticks and tissue paper together. They were super easy to make and the kids loved pretending they were sitting around a camp fire.
We set up a sprinkler and a kiddy pool for the kids to play in. Kona was not a fan of the sprinkler!
He also could have cared less about his cake and didn't want to sit still while everyone sang to him. Can you tell that he's trying to escape? Ha!
We had the best time celebrating our sweet boy!

You can see Kona's first birthday party here and a few details of all the boy's parties here.

<> We ask that you don't pin any pictures of the kids. Party details are the ONLY images that are allowed to be pinned. Thank you!
